Threads

Keep a focused side-conversation branching off a single message, so the main timeline stays tidy.

A thread is a mini-conversation attached to one message. Replies in a thread stay linked to that original message instead of scrolling through the silo's main timeline — handy when a busy silo has several topics going at once.

On Web & Desktop

Start a thread

  1. Hover over the message you want to branch from to reveal the action bar.
  2. Click the options (⋯) menu, then choose Reply in thread.
  3. Type your reply in the thread panel that opens on the right, then press Enter.

Open and read a thread

  1. Any message with replies shows a small thread summary below it (a reply count and the latest reply).
  2. Click that summary to open the thread panel on the right.
  3. Keep replying inside the panel, or close it to return to the main timeline.

Find all threads in a silo

  1. Click the threads icon in the silo header.
  2. The threads list shows every thread in the silo, newest activity first.
  3. An unread dot on the threads icon means a thread has new replies you haven't seen. Click a thread to open it.

Good to know

  • Threads keep busy silos readable. Side-topics live in their own thread instead of pushing the main conversation out of view.
  • A threaded reply stays linked to its root message. Open the thread anytime to see the original message and everything that followed, in order.
  • Threads are encrypted like every other message. Only people in the silo can read them.
  • Notifications can work differently for threads. A thread you're part of may notify you separately from the main silo, and the unread dot on the threads icon tracks thread replies on its own. Check your silo notification settings if you want to fine-tune this.
