Start a voice or video call

Start a one-to-one or group call with Letro Call — Letro's built-in encrypted voice and video.

Security note: Letro Call is end-to-end encrypted, just like your messages. Only the people on the call can hear or see it — not the network, and not Letro.

You start a call from the conversation you want to call. In a 1:1 chat it rings the other person; in a silo it starts a group call that others in the silo can join.

On Web & Desktop

  1. Open the conversation or silo you want to call.
  2. In the silo header at the top, select the voice or video call icon.
  3. The call starts. For a 1:1, it rings the other person; in a silo, a call banner appears so others can join.
  4. Use the on-screen controls to mute, turn your camera on or off, or leave. In a group call you'll see everyone who has joined.

On iOS

  1. Open the conversation or silo.
  2. Tap the voice or video call icon in the silo header.
  3. The call starts and rings the other person (1:1) or opens a joinable call in the silo.
  4. Use the controls to mute, switch your camera, or leave.

On Android

  1. Open the conversation or silo.
  2. Tap the voice or video call icon in the silo header.
  3. The call starts and rings the other person (1:1) or opens a joinable call in the silo.
  4. Use the controls to mute, switch your camera, or leave.

Join an ongoing call

If a call is already happening in a silo, you'll see a join call banner at the top of that silo. Select it to join the call in progress.

Good to know

  • Calls are end-to-end encrypted. The same protection as your messages applies to voice and video.
  • 1:1 vs group. Starting a call in a direct chat rings that person; starting one in a silo creates a group call others can join from the banner.
  • Allow microphone and camera access. The first time you call, your device or browser will ask for permission to use the mic and camera — you need to allow it. If a call won't start, check those permissions.
  • What you can do during a call — screen sharing and other in-call options — is covered in During a call.
