Benefits of Letters

Why you'd use a Letter instead of an email or an ordinary chat message: privacy, a sender you can trust, and communication that never leaves Letro's encrypted environment.

Security note: The core benefit is that formal, on-the-record communication no longer has to travel through email. A Letter keeps the "official document" role of email while removing email's exposure to interception, spoofing, and phishing.

The benefits

  • End-to-end encrypted. A Letter is encrypted on your device and only the recipient can read it. Not the network, not the servers in between, not Letro. Your formal communication gets the same protection as the rest of Letro.
  • A sender identity you can trust. A Letter comes from a real Letro identity (a PostNumber), not a "From" line that anyone can fake. The recipient knows it's genuinely from you — and you know a Letter you receive is genuinely from its sender.
  • Stays inside Letro's encrypted environment. A Letter is never handed off to outside mail servers. It stays within Letro from the moment you send it, which is what removes the spam, phishing, and interception risks that come with email.
  • Built for formal, on-the-record communication. Letters suit notices, considered replies, and anything you'd want to compose carefully and keep — without dropping down to a casual chat message.
  • Consistent with everything else in Letro. The identity you verify and the security you set up for messaging apply to Letters too — there's nothing separate to learn or secure.

The same organizations Letro is built for: finance, legal, healthcare, family offices, and other regulated or confidentiality-sensitive teams — anywhere formal communication currently goes out by email but really shouldn't carry email's risks.
